Seve Ballesteros, Sergio García and John Rahm have nothing on Bryson!

This week’s blog post mostly features our spectacular 10-year old son Bryson. Like Aly, he is exhibiting amazing courage and resilience in adapting to a foreign country, culture, language and daily routine. Many of the things that he loves and has grown used to are no longer available for him. But, he’s finding some new hobbies and opportunities. Several weeks ago, the office elders went golfing on their preparation day and had been talking with Bryson about how much fun they had. Naturally, Bryson has been asking about going golfing ever since then and he set a deadline of today to make it happen! Despite threats of rain for Saturday all week long, we were able to get out to the driving range and practice some long balls and short putts. Bryson is now convinced that we should do this every Saturday!

We spent about an hour working on his grip, feet and eye placement along with a proper swing plane. As you can tell from the middle frame above, at least one of his attempts put it all together with a perfect point of impact on his drive! We also had a fun moment on the putting green. He and I both took four balls and played “closest to the hole” for several rounds. On the last round, he decided to choose the farthest putt possible – about 45 feet. On my first putt, I sank it in the hole. Not to be outdone, Bryson calmly stepped up and drilled his first putt in the hole as well! Look out, Jack Nicklaus!
Bryson and I also got a haircut this week, which was surprisingly inexpensive. Only 30 euros for the both of us. Fortunately, I knew just enough Spanish words to make sure that they didn’t cut it too short, which is always what Bryson is worried about. Not sure why there is an English Boxer mural on the wall since no one there spoke English!

After haircuts, we stopped by the market to pick up a few fresh items for dinner. One of Bryson’s new favorite things is getting the freshly squeezed orange juice out of the machines that are all over Spain. Funny thing is that he actually doesn’t really drink much of the orange juice, he just loves the process of watching it get squeezed into the bottle!

Aw we miss B!!! I’m sending over Ez for a haircut next time you go. It’s probably the same price to fly there and get one as it is to get one here in the village. Lol! Miss you guys!!!
